So you want to write a novel?

Writing a novel is hard. Finishing one is even harder.

You’ve got the idea, the passion, and maybe even a few chapters written—but how do you turn that spark into a fully realised novel? This guide takes you beyond the basics, helping you craft compelling characters, master pacing, and build a story that actually works.

Packed with practical advice, real-world examples, and exercises to push your writing further, this book covers everything from planning (without killing the magic) to editing (without losing your mind). You’ll also navigate the maze of publishing—whether you dream of landing an agent or taking control with self-publishing.

No fluff. No vague advice. Just the tools you need to get your novel from idea to finished book.

You’ve got the story—now let’s write it.

What The People Are Saying...

Neeta Mardia

A friend recommended that I join this group 6 months ago, and I have not looked back. It's great to be part of Mandi's writing community. I have gained confidence from one-to-one coaching to develop my creative writing skills. Mandi is encouraging and tailors her approach to help you, whatever stage you are at. I like the fact the courses are varied, and cover all aspects of writing, including marketing your book, so once completed... it doesn't just sit on your shelf!

Julie Bury

I would recommend Mandi’s beginner and advanced writing course. It is very informal but knowledgable. It has given me the confidence to call myself a writer and have now managed to complete some of my own stories.

It is a friendly atmosphere which makes it easier to share your work and ideas.

It is also good for your well -being whilst having fun and learning new skills.

Mandi is very good at pushing you beyond what you think you can do and is devoted to the craft of writing.

Unlocking Creativity: Why Creative Writing is a Fantastic Choice for Home-Educated Young Peoplep

February 24, 20252 min read
Creative writing isn’t just a fun way to pass the time—it’s an amazing tool for learning, self-expression, and developing skills across different subjects. My 14-week creative writing course is designed for young writers (ages 8-18) to explore their creativity in a friendly and supportive space, helping them find their voice while improving key academic skills.
Why Creative Writing is So Valuable
Writing stories does way more than just fill up a notebook. It gives young people the chance to express their thoughts, explore new ideas, and build confidence. Plus, it helps in lots of other areas too:
  • English & Literacy – The more you write, the better you get at spelling, grammar, and expressing yourself.

  • Critical Thinking – Coming up with characters and plots is great for problem-solving and thinking outside the box.

  • History & Social Studies – Writing about different time periods sparks curiosity and research skills.

  • Science & Maths – Believe it or not, writing mysteries or sci-fi helps with logical thinking and attention to detail.

  • Public Speaking & Communication – Sharing stories with others boosts confidence and helps kids express ideas clearly.

What’s Special About This Course?
Over 14 weeks, I’ll guide young writers through everything from creating characters to building exciting worlds and crafting engaging plots. Each session is fun and interactive, with plenty of chances to chat, get feedback, and try out different writing exercises. No matter their experience level, every student will feel supported and encouraged.
Why Join?
  • A relaxed and welcoming space where creativity can flourish.

  • Friendly guidance to help develop writing skills in a stress-free way.

  • A chance to experiment with different genres and storytelling styles.

  • Meet other young writers and make new friends.

  • A final project to showcase their hard work and creativity.

Creative writing isn’t just about telling stories—it’s about developing essential life skills, boosting confidence, and having fun. If you’re looking for an educational yet enjoyable course, this 14-week programme is a fantastic opportunity.
